How to remove and replace a sagging Audi A6 Sedan headliner
Переглядів 3,6 тис.5 місяців тому
After removing my headliner, I took it to an auto trimmer to cover it for me. I do not recommend covering it yourself as the adhesives they sell in stores is not the same as the adhesive the auto trimmers use and they have experience doing this. This video will show you how to remove all the trim pieces in order to drop the headliner to get it out the car. If you do not have folding rear seats ...

Really makes a big difference! You did an excellent job again!!! Congrats!!
Thanks so much. 🤗
Facinating! Never knew thats how it works! You really good at fitting personal extras to a car to make it fancy!! Well done!!
Thanks so much for your kind words. 💙
That car sure is looking very good with those new lenses! Wonder what the previous owner will say if he sees how nice its coming along! Great video and work!!
Thanks. When it's done, I will send him a link so he can see everything that's done to the car and how I gave it a new lease on life ❤️
Thanks 😅
You have saved the car dealer from a large black eye , great video . Thanks
Gladbmy video helped Phil 😄
Thanks
Thanks for this, I'm going to give it a go after regular double-sided tape didn't hold for more than a day.
It works well. My searbacks are still in their place and haven't even moved. The car has been to the dealer and they moved the drivers seat several times with different people driving it and the seatbacks still stayed in their place. 😊
I love the wood look on your car. Goes with the rest of the wood and has great appeal making the car seem more executive in looks like the bigger Mercs etc! Great job again Hilton!! Very proud of you!
Thanks so much for the kind words. I am really happy with the results and at last have the old broken ashtray out the car. It was rattling a bit so now it's a quieter ride 😄
Nice Job Hilton! Looks really good :) But to be honest I really hope to see you in a Jag again… I really loved your Jag contents 😁
I would love tonhave another Jag. Maybe next car would be an XJ or an older X type or S Type. 😄
@@carfanfan A XJ X351 would fit perfectly to you 😉
Nice job, really does look better than the aluminium silver look.. 🎉😊
Thanks so much. And thanks for being a loyal subscriber. You comment on every video and I appreciate that ❤️
hey. í dont have audi but i like to watch your videos. too bad you don't have the jag😊
I also wish I had a Jag, but then there would be no new content. 😂. But boy would i love to have an XF right now. More reliable 😊
My jag's available, there's years of videos in it, no end of problems. 😭
Hi Hilton .I hope you are doing well . I am looking to buy a jaguar XF ,2012 ,50km excellent condition..need your thoughts? Thanks Kevin
That's very low mileage and a good buy if it has full service history with agents. If the service history is questionable I would think twice. What engine has it got?
Full service from the agent .. 2.2 d .. one owner
Really enjoy your content.. very informative.. we need it in the South African market.. not many people do it ..
@@kevinnaidoo2875 Good buy. Go for ut. The 2.2 is very reliable and frugal on diesel. You will also love the power and low down torque. 👌👍
@kevinnaidoo2875 thanks my friend. ❤️
Fantastic job Hilton
Evening Hilton just watched you wrapping your boot lucky for me mine is done it looks fantastic good video
Thanks, mate. Yeah, it just looks better wrapped in gloss black. After I did the window surrounds, it looked aggressively awesome.
@@carfanfan yes I agree it does look fantastic
@@carfanfan just been watching you wrap the windows very nice 👌🏻
Great video
I rewatched your video and now i'm going to glue those clips back on with gorilla glue
The clips on one of the seats came off and I used shoe glue to glue them on. Still holding strong. Just sand paper the back of the clips where you apply the glue to create a good bond and they won't come off. 😉
I expect this guy to start singing Careless Whisper in a second - he has the best George Michael, soothing voice I've ever heard! Thanks for this video.
Lol thanks so much for the kind words 🤗
Very helpful, after all these years. Thanks!
What are your ideas for a new set of rims. Are you going to keep the car authentic with the 15 inch or are you going to modernize it a little bit with perhaps some 17 inch? Late 90s early 2000s had some amazing Audi rim designs. Of course you can go for some B5 S4 rims, or I think it would look really good with the 17 inch sport package rims that came on the B6 Audi A4, 2002 through 2005.👌
I made the mistake with my 1999 Audi B5 by dumping the 15" wheels for 17" BBS wheels. Looked great, but suffered from potholes and hard ride. I'm going to keep the wheels stock. It has a nice soft ride and those high profile tires will help shield the wheels from getting buckled on potholes 😄
Hey Hilton, I’ve been following you since you had your XF, the first generation, I had one at the time. So my first car was a 1996 Audi A4 2.8. I got it in 1999 when I turned 16, I worked my butt off for it and I think I got it for 9k. I always loved the key had the little light on it, and then also it had pneumatic locking kind of like the W-140 S class. I never got sick of that sound when you locked the car and you can hear the vacuum sucking down the locks lol
Hey Nicholas, the 2.8 was s nice machine. Especially in A4 form. Smaller car, lighter and very nimble. It was a toss up between getting an A6 of that time, an A4 again or a 2001 A6 4.2 V8. I chose the more challenging one unfortunately. Not knowing Audi don't support them anymore. When I had my A4 until 2018 parts were readily available but this one I bought is now very scarce. You just don't see them on the roads anymore. Thanks for following my channel all these years. 🤗
@@carfanfan well, it’s definitely in excellent condition and very unique. They just didn’t sell that many Audi in that era as far as parts go especially the A6. That Audi generation was only around for a few years, they were just coming out of the unintended acceleration fiasco. The 2.8 L was a really good engine, it was quite underpowered, but I had the five-speed manual. It was more reliable than the 2.8 5v 200 hp V6 that came out in 1997. The only issue I had was the catalytic converter failed and then control arms, but this suspension on the A4 was different. I look forward to seeing what you do with it,
very nice car in good condition Cant wait to see the transformation you will do in getting it A1. Keep them coming
Evening Hilton nice very clean car, bet you miss your jags I wish you would get another one fab video
Thanks Chris. I would love to have another Jag but it wouldn't make for good content as I already did so many videos on those cars. They are solid cars and I still love them.
Morning Hilton well I am sure I will be asking you questions about the XFs in the future as I am still learning I am currently trying to master the sdd software getting there slowly enjoying your videos old and new ones take care feller
Hi Hilton. Congrats on the new Audi. A very solid machine. It looks gorgeous in white. It's running rich due to the ants living in the air filter box lol 😆😆😆 Does it have an ODB2 port to check for problems? (Not sure when they were standard)
Thanks Andy. Unfortunately this one doesn't have OBDII, it has OBDI which is the first iteration of OBD so Audi should be able to pull codes, albeit very basic codes 😁
@@carfanfan Thanks Hilton, that's good to know. Good luck with the major service 🛠
Ow. Is it an S8?
Nope just a 2.6 A6 V6 registered in 96. All the sixes. 🤣
Perhaps the thermostat is stuck open perhaps or was even removed, that could cause it to run rich…for longer than it should.
Let's hopenits something simple like thermostat or temp sensor 🤞
Great video, congratulations on the new Audi…😊
This is a really great hack and thanks for sharing. I’ll be doing this to both my seats in my 05 A6 Quattro. I live in the south east of the US and previous owner just used 3M Velcro strips that doesn’t work.
Mine are still on the seats after doing this and it definitely worked for me. Can't hurt to give it a try with the industrial strength velcro.
Hello, where do you connect the boxes to have power in them?
I rigged a main line into the center console lights. If you watch my video on the door sill lights, I show how I did this. You can also rig a main line up to your dome lights by identifying which wire supplies light to the switches. But you can use that premise for any buttons in the console getting light when you turn the headlights on.
Thanks a lot ! I have no lights in the center console, but if I understand the tips well, I just have to wire up to a light from the car (like the roof lights)
@EragonThenics nope, find a button in the car that lights up when you turn your headlights on. The buttons 9n the dome light usually light up when you turn your lights on, so they are a good source to use. Don't use the actual dome light, that wouldn't work. Any buttons on the dash that light up can be used to tap a wire into.
@@carfanfan ohhhhhh okey, I understood !
Connect the main box to your main wire inside the car. That's for your dash lights and footwell lights. The door lights need to be connected to a source inside the doors. Each door box communicates with the main box via wifi. So if your window switches light up or door lock buttons, you can find which wire is the one for the switch light and splice into that.
Might be better wetting a cloth or paper towel with the spray and wiping it on.
Yep, I've learned some hacks since then. I do it to all my cars and have fast retracting seatbelts
Sorry you skipped how to remove the mirror cover w/o breaking clips so it can b reinstalled.
What was your previous jag make and model?
It was a 2008 Jaguar XF 3.0 petrol.
@@carfanfan I'm interested in buying one as a daily driver have you ever owned a XF or any jaguar that's made it over 200k miles?
@TheWiz2024 I haven't personally, but the X260 XF will easily go up to that mileage with minimal problems. As long as you maintain it properly. They like regular oil changes. Most parts were Ford so they are solid cars.
@@carfanfan thank you for the advice I'm really looking forward to buying one of these
Thanks. I just picked up a 2024 that came with the cargo cover installed. What are the levers on the side of the cargo area for?. There's two on one side and one on the other. Nothing in the manual about them and i don't want to pull them unless i know what they are.
I think the levers are to release the seats. Mine had levers on the seat backs, but not sure if they changed this.
Thanks. The seats have their own release levers. I'll ask the dealer at my first "free" oil change.
Thanks for a great video!! You make it seem so easy!! Can I bring my Golf 5 !!! hahaha
🤣 thank you dear Wade.
Great and informative video. Thanks very much. Looking very good 😊
Hallo, könnten Sie.bitte sagen wo die Elektronische Heizung sitzt
It is in the hvac in the dash. Not easy to get to. If you look under the footwell into the center of the dash you could probably see it but getting it put means dash removal.
Many thanks for this Hilton - I just followed your guide exactly (and also put some self-adhesive felt on the two cables where they also cross lower down toward the front of the door) and the rattles are gone! Bliss!
Bliss indeed. It's quite annoying isn't it. You will now see your Jaaaag in a whole new light 😜
Watch my later video I did on my white XFR. There I show how to remove the entire bumper as well as the chrome trim. I wrapped mine in gloss black. But painting them is probably a better solution.
my trunk is not working with remote ,,,,why
One of the wires in your trunk loom is probably broken. This happens as they age from opening and closing over time. Instead of replacing the loom, which I would rather do, is removing the loom and prying the rubber cover back to race where the wire broke. It won't be long before you spot the culprit. But repairing it will just lead to the other wires snapping over time and eventually license plate lights and rear camera will also stop working. It's best to replace the loom.
(Gen 2) MAKE SURE the upper bracket is pulled as far forward as it can go before you torque it down. If you don't, the hood bracket bolt will grind against the strut and push it off the ball, causing it to decompress in your engine bay and hit something. Everyone says these are easy but they really should come with instructions to avoid returns and damaged cars!
Excellent paint job Hilton! That car really looks showroom concourse condition. Wow what a grand looking motor! Very smart Audi!! Well done!!
Thank you 🤗
I have a UK 2021 Q5 Edition 1 and the carpet backing on the rear seats keeps peeling away. To say that Q5s retail for between £50 and £60k here, the quality is shocking. I had a 2009 Q5 and the materials and overall quality was far superior. Not impressed with the build of more recent Audi's!!
I don't think any vehicles are built well these days. They're built to be thrown away like phones but cost as much as a house.
How do you change the little bulb next to the big one? That little tiny yellow one I wanted change to l e d
I did show how to change that little bulb in one of my head light videos. I think it was the side marker video. Because I spliced my side markers into that little bulb holder that holds the bulb you're referring to. I changed mine to led as well but they kept failing which was annoying. They are T10 bulbs and don't affect the canbus at all.
About 30secs in and I started relaxing. I could just tell this guy is going to be comprehensive precise and quick about it. Yeah, that's how you do it . There are other videos here dismantling the whole boot!
Is it same height as the regular hood holder?
It's a little lower than the hood support, but only slightly. There's more than enough room to service the engine and check things under there.
@@carfanfan 👍
@@carfanfan do you still have the Mazda? How’s it holding up?
@OYATca I have since sold it but can say they are solid reliable cars. Well built and the quality of all materials down to clips and fixtures are of the highest grade. Better than the luxury brands Audi and Jagaur.
@@carfanfan thank you, thinking of getting one, people recommend 2017-2018 model for reliability
Got a 2014 XF 2.0 - and got this issue. But I'm clumsy when it comes to cars - would you by any chance be near JHB and willing to do it for money? Also same time the driver's airvent doesn't go up or down, Jaguar said it'll cost 12k so if you have a fix for that... I'm in Germiston but work in North JHB.
Sent you an email Matt 😁
Hey Hilton, sorry the comment is not video related but ot was your latest about Jaguar…. I have a 2010 XFR that had a P186D, i replaced the motor with a used one and now it is showing 2 codes which are : P0900-00 and P0807-00. I got stuck and mechanics say that it is a bad motor, iam not convinced because it is kinda wiring related? Iam not sure. Any help will be much appreciated, Thanks.
If you're getting new codes after replacing a motor then either a cable got damaged during the install or something was not plugged in due to the ECU not receiving signal from that item. P186d is related to the diff, so I would have a route around under the car in the diff area and follow any cable from there back to the engine bay to ensure it is plugged in.
Fantastic video
Danke!
Thank you ❤
